Tv and the radio played a big part in getting the messages to the public.  Newspapers and magazines also brought new information to your doorstep.  Now, we have the internet and a million tv channels, plus youtube.  What is going to influence your market today?  Who do they look up to?  What is driving their wants?  

Does your product or service have a story?  I almost forgot about the movies.  Movies have a big impact too.  You are sitting in a movie theater and the images are large and in charge.  Can you weave a story into your product or service presentation?  Who is your product for?  Why do they need it?  Are you solving a problem or creating a new alternative?

People have plenty of options when it comes to entertainment and information.  There are lots of niche websites and tv channels.  Fox news viewers might have a different view than the msnbc crowd.  People from different generations have different outlooks on life.  Seniors might have different ideas than the generation x crowd.  How do your products and services speak to their different needs?  Just a few questions to get it started.

Are you using youtube?  It is really crazy not to setup a youtube channel these days.  Just go to youtube and start watching some of the videos that are posted online.  It is a great way to drive traffic to your sites.

Making videos is not tough and if you don't want to make videos yourself, you can outsource it.  Take the time to read the book by tim ferris called the four hour work week.  It jumps into outsourcing in a big way.  There are only so many hours in the day and you can use leverage to tasks done online.   Youtube is more than just making fun videos.  It is a place to learn how to do stuff.

What can you teach through youtube about your business?  You have lots of products and services that you are trying market.  What about discussing the big problems that your audience is facing?  What about describing your services and how they handle problems?  Youtube is the perfect place to share this information.

Youtube is social media.  You put up the videos and don't get shocked when you check your comments section to see that someone has responded.  Youtube is world wide.  You don't know where the online reach will end.

Sharing videos is really simple to do.  You might make a good video and people can easily share it on facebook or twitter.  If your video is really good, they might even embed the video in their own sites and blogs.  This gives your video a chance to get even more worldwide reach.

Who are you depending on for traffic?  Most people are going to say the search engines. This strategy talked about using a lot of different traffic sources to help build up the traffic for your site.

The reasoning behind using this kind of online strategy is simple.  The search engines can change their minds at any time and cut your traffic just about instantly.  This webinar talked about not putting all your eggs into one basket.  The idea is not new and it is something that should be considered.

The bottom line was for you to change your thinking and start looking at getting a little bit of traffic from many different online and offline sources.  Blogging, article writing and forum posting were just a few of the many different places that they suggested that you get your links.

Just watched a webinar yesterday that really got me thinking about using classified ads.  The points that were given were really hard to ignore.

Free classifieds are a chance to promote your products.  They are a great way to test your message and pick up new clients.

The other ideas talked about adding new income streams with marketing in offline publications and getting access to large targeted potential prospects. 

You can really scale up a campaign with offline marketing.  One other really important point was that offline marketing doesn't have as many rules as online marketing.  You can promote your products and services without worrying about getting your online accounts banned.

Don't forget that people are not online all day.  They might be checking in on the web sometimes, but there are still a lot of people that are not glued to their computers. 

Another topic presented was pay per call programs.  This one I really wanted to learn more about.  Pay per call is interesting because of the current shifts happening in technology.  Finding online traffic and allowing people to pull out their cell phone or smartphone with internet access and make a call seems like a really big opportunity.

Online marketing is great and you cannot ignore it.  There are lots of free online marketing methods, but you might want to consider another marketing stream with offline marketing.  Using it for lead generation is not a bad idea. 

Images are a good way to share information.  You might not think that you can make really good looking graphics.  Some of the powerful graphics programs might take some time to learn and master.  There are other simple solutions that you can use to make good looking graphics for your marketing purposes.

You can use free graphics programs.  There is one that comes with the windows operating system called paint.  There are lots of free graphics programs that are open source.  Gimp is another powerful program.  Here is one easy graphics program that I really like.

Learn how to make the images.  Start off with simple graphics. You are creating a new skill that you can leverage.  Your simple graphics can be used in many different ways online.  Use them on your blogs, social media sites and more.

An image can share lots of information in an instant.  Use different colors and draw attention to areas that you think are important. Don't forget to include a web address in your image. Your image might get lots of views and people can type in your web address to learn more information.   You are now creating another source of web traffic.

Post them in your blogs

Add your images to your blog.  Add description information and alt tags with the keywords of your choice.  Your blog posts don't have to be a screen full of text without any images anymore. You can create simple images that provide some extra context.  Do you have lots of different blogs?  Each time you create a new image, it gives you another piece of content that can be added online.

Post them in your free classified ads

Are you making free classified ads?   Some of the free ad sites allow you to post images in your ad.  Take your free ad to a higher level with an attractive image.  A plain text ad might have powerful copy, but an image that instantly presents attractive information is really powerful.

Create a video with your graphics

Your created images have a lot of different uses.  Are you currently making videos?  You don't even have to appear on camera to make videos.  What about compiling some of your images that tell a story?  You can create simple slide show videos with your new images.  Videos present another potential source of web traffic.

Market with graphics

You might love writing content and using it as your main marketing method.  Don't close your mind to the option of creating graphics for your marketing purposes.  You don't need to be an expert to create some simple images.  Just get started.  You have to remember that it is going to be a process and that you are going to improve and get better at it.

Market your services with your writing skills

Create simple blogs and use your writing skills to provide information that is relevant to your audience.  You have to open your computer and start typing.  It might have been a while since you created a document, but you have to start.

Start coming up with topics for your blog.  Think about the different categories that you want to cover.  You can even start coming up with headlines for your blog posts before you write them.  Take a big topic and break it down into smaller sizes for simple blog posts.

What are some of the problems that your audience is experiencing?

Get into the shoes of your target audience.  What are some of the problems that they are experiencing?  Do you have information that can help them improve their current situation?  Start diving into the problems.

Take a look at your own situation and try to remember some of the problems that you had to overcome?  Do you remember some of the feelings that you had going through that rough patch?

How can you help them get over those problems?

What helped you get through it?  What were the steps that you took to get rid of the problem?  Did you find a software solution?  Was it something that was really easy to implement?  Did the problem require that you create your own solution?

It can really help to just write down the questions that come up.  Brainstorm and write down all the words that come to mind when you are thinking about the topic.  There might be some other issues that come up with problem that are related.

Become the solutions provider

Help bring your blog readers closer to the solution.  Talk about the issues and keep posting new information on the subject.  You have to decide how general or specific that you want to be with your blog posts.

Try to keep adding new content at a steady pace.  You don't have to do blogging all alone.  Bounce some ideas off of your friends. You might get a different view of the topic. People might not agree on what the best road to take regarding improving the situation.

Blogging is not really free.  You are going to be spending your time creating a site.  There are no guarantees that people are going to show up and read your information.  You just have to put it out there and see what happens.  You have to remember that it is a numbers game.  Provide the content and see what happens.

Pinterest has an area for describing the image that you are uploading.  Think about including a link back to your home business website or blog.

Just visit the site and take a look around.  You can create different boards where you place your pins.  I just watched a webinar that talked about pinterest and how to use it.  They were selling some software that could help you automate the process of adding new pins.  I don't use the pinterest site all the time. I am not really thinking about using software for posting to pinterest.

Pinterest is a newer social media site, but the numbers of users is growing.  One of the items that I like to view on pinterest are the memes.  These are funny pictures that people add captions to.  Some of them are crazy.

You might already have plenty of content that could be used in pdfs.  What about getting some use from all that plr content that you have on your hard drive.  PLR stands for private label rights.  This is content that you can use to help create even more content.

It is good for creating articles, blog posts and even some pdfs.  You can use plr to get up to speed on new topics.  Read a few plr articles and then create your own articles and save them as pdfs. 


Write articles

How many articles have you written for the article directories?  All of them are not going to be winners?  Use your articles in a different location with document sharing sites.  You could rewrite those articles and save them as pdfs.  This can give some new life to your older articles that are collecting dust and not getting any traffic on directories.  

Do you have squidoo pages that are getting locked or pending deletion?  Don't give up on that content.  You have spend time creating articles and you don't want that work to go do waste.  Take your articles and give them another chance through pdfs.  
 
Repurpose blog content

Do you have blog content that is not getting the results that you want?  You might be able to pull some blog topics together to create something new and useful as a pdf.  Your older blog posts could be turned into a pdf.   Give them away or use them to generate sign ups for your newsletter.  Think about changing the focus to a more targeted audience.  Your information could be tailored for a specific niche.
